Walk for Autism

“The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example.” - John Wooden.

In March 2020, everything shifted to online due to pandemics and sudden lockdown, where I had just started with my second trimester. The rules and regulations were put on overnight and the International Students who had just arrived in Australia in T1,2020 for their education were hit the worse. In the daunting phase of students losing the job, everybody restricted to staying at home, lack of social gatherings and recreational activities I came up with the determination to avoid as many students as possible from getting adversely affected by all that was happening around me. But to keep believing and continuing the journey, I came through Autism.

With this, In April 2020, I’ve stepped up to Walk for autism to help create a world where no one on the autism spectrum is left behind. I challenged myself to walk 10,000 steps a day from 29th March to 30th April while raising much-needed funds to support people on the autism spectrum. People on the autism spectrum see, hear, feel, and experience the world differently. For many, simply coping with every day can lead to confusion, anxiety, and isolation.

I was also asked by the Business and Law Peer Mentor Program to write a blog on Autism, and this could motivate students to keep believing. I was invited to speak about this initiative in the Business and Law Peer Mentor Networking event. Therefore, networking with students in leadership roles expanded my intellect and I got to learn about scenarios that could occur and how to go ahead with them as a leader. I have also learned that the people who see the hard work and passion that I bring to the table every day, stir them to develop leadership skills too.
